The homeowner had an outdated kitchen in an older home that had a good flow but
the layout provided less than enough counter space for cooking and the family to
gather around. The kitchen was fully gutted, the tile floor replaced with reclaimed
old-growth hardwood. The cabinet work was a combination of milled and custom
built to meet the needs of the family's love of cooking. The lighting design was
changed to add more task lighting under cabinets and to take advantage of and
include the industrial stove, dishwasher and refrigerator. Overall the kitchen
retained the old-world feeling and architecture of the rest of the home, but brought
the mechanics into the current century with appliances and finishes that will stand
the test of time as the family continues to grow.

After some serious discussions with the homeowner, the project turned into
much more. The kitchen was gutted and replaced with sleek peppercorn finish
cabinets, granite counter tops with an island for storage, new slate tile was laid
in the kitchen. The finishing touches to the design are the added pantry behind
the double ovens and the addition of a 42" commercial grade stove top that
serves as the focal point in the kitchen along with the range hood. All new
appliances were added, note the double drawer dishwashers. The only
remaining feature to the kitchen is the placement of the window overlooking the
backyard. We also gutted the two baths and replaced with complimentary
cabinetry, added a 24'x 36' master suite including a walk-in shower, double
closets and customized lighting, heating and cooling systems.

This project has been a labor of love on the part of the homeowner and our
company. We started work for this client with a simple job of replacing the kitchen
faucet for the family which just purchased the home. That was in May 2008 and we
have just about finished, two years later. And no it does not take two years to
replace a faucet, but it does take time to nearly renovate an entire house. Here is
just a partial list of what we did for this homeowner:
- Custom designed and built 36' x 18' addition to rear of house
- Addition included 12 custom windows,
- Custom French doors to new paver patio
- Customized tile work to match Kitchen
- Stoh Finished Exterior with Columns
- Living Room & Dining Room
- Redesigned doorways and install columned entrances
- Refinished all hardwood floors
- Installed Crown Molding
- Finished with Customized paint finishes
- Kitchen
- Redesigned kitchen with custom counter tops and new appliances
- Converted accessory closet to usable floor space with custom shelving units
- Installed custom floor finishes and lighting
- Other
- Converted garage window to full service entry door
- Upgrade laundry and utility space with working cabinetry and fixtures
- Installed custom shelving in pantry
- Installed seven custom replacement windows in lower level of house
- Designed & built 36' x 14' entertaining deck to the front of the house
- Poured driveway extensions and new front access sidewalks
- Removed a total of six trees from property
This is just part of the work for this house. What makes this an even greater
accomplishment is that the work was all done while the homeowners were living
out of state and making a few visits to the property. We joke with the homeowners
that we have spent more time in their home than then have.
The project is now done, or almost. The homeowners are ready to retire and enjoy
their "new" home.
